Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a gentle therapy that excels at balancing and harmonizing the body. Fine filament needles are inserted at strategic points on the body, selected according the patient’s specific health goals. This ancient technique accelerates healing, relieves pain and promotes a state of deep relaxation and well being.

Cupping

Cupping is an add-on therapy well known for promoting increased healing and pain relief. Using suction cups along specific areas, blood and Qi (chi) is brought to a superficial layer of the body. This promotes blood flow to the affected area, enhancing circulation and stimulating the natural healing process. Suction is created in a cup with a pneumatic device, which pulls up the skin, muscle, lymph fluids, blood and fascia. This action draws deep stagnation of the body fluids up to the surface as well as stagnated Qi, allowing the body to fulfill its natural cleansing process by dispelling these toxins. It also brings fresh oxygenated blood full of nourishment to the treatment area to heal the tissues and improve circulation.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a heat therapy that is a powerful addition to acupuncture. Using an infusion of herbs that have a special effect on the health of the blood and Qi (chi) of the body, Moxibustion is wonderful, relaxing technique that your acupuncturist may recommend based on your health goals. When used effectively, it is beneficial for strengthening many different healthy functions.

What to Expect

Your first appointment with your acupuncturist will begin with a thorough medical history and discussion of your health goals. This will lead to a treatment plan to ensure that you are aware of what to expect from your sessions. It is best to wear loose comfortable clothing that provides easy access to above the knees and elbows because it will be time to relax on your treatment bed. Once you are ready, the fine filament acupuncture needles will then be placed in specific points. At this time you are ready to rest for about 20 minutes to let the selected points work with your body’s system. This is where most people feel the deep relaxation set in and often get a little nap. So, when should you see your results? This is something you should discuss with your acupuncturist, because it will vary depending on the severity and length of the symptoms you are experiencing.

Are you already receiving care for a condition, but want to see if acupuncture can be a good addition? The answer is most likely yes, and we would love to chat! Acupuncture can relieve pain and symptoms of other treatments and medications to ensure that medical care can continue as needed. It can also speed recovery, and benefit the body’s healing process post-operation. Acupuncture can be the answer for those suffering from inflammation and unwanted side effects, or for those who are concerned with using addicting pain medications.
